21.04.2020 | Extrusions, Edgesurf, Loft and 3DPoly

In this lesson, the following commands were explored:

Different types of Extrude which create a 3D solid form and object.
Region converts objects that enclose an area into a 2D region object.
Edgesurf creates a mesh between four contiguous edges or curves.
Thicken converts a surface into a 3D solid with a specified thickness.
Loft creates a 3D solid or surface in the space between several cross-sections.
3DPoly creates a three-dimensional polyline.

After creating a random object the normal extrude command was used, creating an extension of the object perpendicular to the plan.

Using the same object the extrude command in direction of a line was used. Following a direction at an angle.

The third extrusion used was the path of a line where the object follows any sort of direction.

The final extrusion is the taper angle where the object follows an angle given as a solid.

The thicken command allowed to give instant thickness to a plan.

The subtract command was used to withdraw parts of extrusions from other extrusions.

Using a random shape, two copies of this shape were interlinked and selected for the region command. After using Region and extruding the objects they came out as separate.

To construct a tensile structure a square was drawn with two corners at different heights that were united to two other corners.
Using command Edgesurf these four lines were selected, creating a curved plan.
To add thickness to this plan the command thicken was used again.

The Loft command transforms shapes at different heights into one unique solid following the form of those shapes.

Using 3DPoly a three-dimensional spline was created. A circle was extruded using the path of this line.
