14.04.2020 | Helix and Guggenheim

In this lesson the Helix command was introduced, enabling several spiral surfaces to be created.

First, we created a helix, using the respective command, and aligned a small circle at one end. Using the Extrude command the circle was selected and its path was chosen to be the helix. This gave thickness to the helix.

To create a helix similar to a ramp we place a rectangle instead of a circle at the end.

After this rectangular helix was inserted inside a cube and the Subtract command was used to cut the helix shape into the cube.

Using these principles a recreation of the Guggenheim Museum was made using a helix with a different radius on the top and bottom. The extrusion was made in an L shape.
